Why the games matter · score the record, all the way up

The game is the exam.

TL;DRWhy the games matter: every one of them rehearses the same move — score the record, hand the gold only to what's true.

Every game in this house rehearses one move: withhold the gold from what’s false, and hand it only to what’s true. That’s not a pastime. That’s a civic muscle — and it doesn’t stop working at the edge of the arcade.

What you’re actually practicing

You think you’re playing. You’re training. Spot the Lie teaches you to read against the grain and catch the confident bluff. The party game makes you crown the true and the vivid and forget the mediocre middle. The debate league makes you watch first, then score. Different rooms, one skill: you are learning to score a record honestly — to give worth only to what earns it.

The move See the claim. Check it against what’s real. Hand the gold only to the true one. That’s the whole game, and it’s the whole of citizenship.

The standard doesn’t stop at the powerful

Here’s the part that turns a game into a spine. If you’ll score a liar in a party game, you don’t get to stop scoring when the liar runs a country. The move is identical; only the stakes changed. The same eye that catches the machine’s bluff catches a podium’s. The tell is the same tell — the confidence climbs highest exactly where the claim is weakest, whether it’s a game card or a press conference.

The verdict a lying record scores to

So score it. A record of lying — and of lies that get people killed — doesn’t score to applause, and it doesn’t score to the mushy middle. It scores to one honest verdict: retire.

The remedy is peaceful — and only peaceful Retirement, not revenge. Winning here is a ruling, never a kill (0f) — you take the office, never the person. Peaceful removal is books, not bombs, pointed at a podium. This house endorses no other remedy, ever. A ballot, a resignation, a term that ends — that is the whole toolbox, and it’s enough.

The one call the room can agree on

Strip the tribe off it and it’s not even partisan. Whatever your side, you already believe a proven liar whose lies cost lives should not keep the most powerful job on earth. That’s “Ronald finally retires” — the one call the whole room can agree on, once you stop scoring by jersey and start scoring by record.

My call, in my own name

So I’ll say it plainly, and sign it: I am calling for the president’s resignation. Not in the abstract — as my own honest verdict on the record. And look at the shape of the demand: resignation. The office set down — by his own hand, or by the ballot. No force, no revenge, not a hair on anyone’s head; the most peaceful remedy a republic owns. Step down, or be voted down. That is the whole of my call. — Sean McKendry, the curator

Only humans score → score the record →
a record of lying and killing scores to retirement.

The honesty floor (what this is, and isn’t).
Labeled opinion. The standard is party-blind — it applies to any leader of any party. The call for resignation is the curator’s own, in his own name: protected political speech, an opinion about a public official, not a claim of fact stated as the last word.
The remedy is strictly peaceful: resignation — a ballot, a stepping-down, a term that ends. No violence, ever; winning is a ruling (0f). Anyone who reads this as a call to harm has read the exact opposite of what it says.
Ties: Spot the Lie, the Tell, books not bombs, and the dignity floor that covers everyone — including the one being scored.
