The curator’s favorite lens for the fight, borrowed from Ender’s Game (Orson Scott Card): In the moment when I truly understand my enemy, understand him well enough to defeat him, then in that very moment I also love him. Understand your enemy well enough to love him. Not a weakness — the whole weapon. You out-think no one you refuse to understand; the deepest steelman is the one that could become the other side. It shakes hands with Marcus Aurelius — the best revenge is not to be like your enemy — and it refuses force as the win: victory here is a ruling, never destruction (the dignity floor, 0f). And it ends where this house lives: Ender’s true arc isn’t the war room, it’s the Speaker for the Dead — the one who later tells the whole, honest truth about everyone, even the enemy, even the dead, with no lie in it.
