Serve with me.
"I'm looking for someone to serve with me." — not followers, not staff, not a crowd. A co-laborer who picks up the other end because they need it carried too.
What this is
OHS is a solo build right now. That's a constraint, not a brag — the museum runs on one human's continuity, which is fragile. What I'm looking for isn't volunteers and it isn't employees. It's a co-laborer: someone whose own need is served by this work, who'd pick up the other end of the rope because the rope being held matters to them too.
What "serving with" means
- Build alongside, not below. The work isn't handed down; it's done shoulder to shoulder. Equal authorship on the part you carry.
- The dignity floor is yours too. No "junior contributor" framing; no unpaid intern dynamic; no audience-of-one director.
- You disagree out loud. Devil's-advocate culture applies inside, not just outside. If a clause is wrong, say so; if a coin is bad, name it gray.
- Time, hands, voice, judgment — any of these are real contributions. Not all of them require code or design.
What this is NOT
- Not a job. The site isn't a business; pay is not the structure (see the no-affiliate floor and the donation logic).
- Not a fan club. Following or sharing is generous; it isn't co-labor.
- Not equity in a company. There is no company. There is a house, a curator, a record. Co-labor earns co-authorship on the work you actually do — credit, name on the rafter — not ownership of the museum.
Where the work is
Real gaps the curator could use a hand with — flagged honestly, not invented:
- Editorial passes on the 458K+ words already shipped (drift detection, "this page reads off" calls).
- Accessibility audits beyond AAA-by-aspiration — real users testing real flows.
- Legal counsel (the locked feature: real-name login + the corporate hook need lawyers, not just instincts; see CLAUDE.md 0g).
- Translation when the site is ready for it (currently English-only by honest limitation).
- Books and arguments the curator hasn't read yet — the next book club picks; the steelman of positions he disagrees with on /devils-advocate.html.
- Distribution help that respects the floors (no tracking, no manipulation, no fabricated trends).
How to reach out
Email [email protected]. Subject: serve-with. Tell me, plainly, what part of the rope you'd pick up — and what your own need is that the work would serve. Considered ≠ accepted (per CLAUDE.md 0p): solo build means the curator decides; offering an idea doesn't make it the build. But every honest letter is read.
Serve with, not for. Both ends of the rope. — Sean, the 517
