The feed makes money when you can't put it down; so it's engineered to make you feel a little bad for leaving, and a little anxious to return. The notification is the hook, and your loneliness is the crop. This house sells nothing and farms no one, so it can do the opposite: the reverse notification is glad when you leave to live your life, and simply glad again when you come back. No streak. No badge. No guilt. You are the guest here, never the harvest.
What it actually does
When you come back after real time away, it gives you a warm hello and counts the rooms you've read; you're loved for every one. If you want a gentle nudge, and you leave the lamp on (a tab open), it can leave one soft note; no guilt in it, ever. That's the whole feature. It is small on purpose, because dignity usually is.
The honest floor, out loud
This site runs static, with no push server and no tracking, on purpose. That means a plain, checkable truth most apps would never admit: it cannot ping a phone you have fully closed. There is no server standing by to reach into your pocket. And that is exactly the point; a notification that can't be weaponized against you is one that was never built to be. If you close the tab, there's no ping; there's just the lamp, still lit, and a warm hello when you choose to return. Everything it remembers lives on this device only. You can turn it off in one tap, and off means silent.
Opt-in, off by default. No account, no server, no tracking; stored on this device only (localStorage). The one rule of the house is no lying, so the limits are stated as plainly as the gift: this is care, made small and honest, not another hook.
