I sell nothing but a veto

The best ad campaign the house runs is the one that sells nothing; nothing except a veto. Everything of value here is free and can't be bought: the gold, the score, the human judgment (the human economy; the gold star handed over by hand). The one thing money can purchase is a say; a voice, a seat in the oversight, a veto (the Gray Star; the Apex Square's “a voice, a veto, and a square, not the pen”). So it inverts advertising itself: a normal campaign sells you the product and hides the veto (once you've bought the story you can't say no); this one gives the product away and prices only the no. It is the same instrument as being the human in the loop; the veto is the human's power over the machine, the one capacity a model can't hold. And it's the best campaign precisely because it breaks every rule of viral marketing done wrong: sell nothing, give the gold, price only the veto. From a man with the branding lineage to know exactly which rule he's breaking (the copywriter, turned honest). Ties: better campaigns, the Gray Star, the Apex Square. (His coin; machine's read, refine to his.)
